From e34eb549603e4dfd3ad61d38867b79cbcbfdadde Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: adamdunkels Date: Thu, 18 Feb 2010 21:48:39 +0000 Subject: [PATCH] A work-in-progress rework of the Contiki MAC and radio layers. The main ideas are: * Separates the Contiki low-layer network stack into four layers: network (e.g. sicslowpan / rime), Medium Access Control MAC (e.g. CSMA), Radio Duty Cycling RDC (e.g. ContikiMAC, X-MAC), and radio (e.g. cc2420). * Introduces a new way to configure the network stack. Four #defines that specify what mechanism/protocol/driver to use at the four layers: NETSTACK_CONF_NETWORK, NETSTACK_CONF_MAC, NETSTACK_CONF_RDC, NETSTACK_CONF_RADIO. * Adds a callback mechanism to inform the MAC and network layers about the fate of a transmitted packet: if the packet was not possible to transmit, the cause of the failure is reported, and if the packets was successfully transmitted, the number of tries before it was finally transmitted is reported. * NULL-protocols at both the MAC and RDC layers: nullmac and nullrdc, which can be used when MAC and RDC functionality is not needed. * Extends the radio API with three new functions that enable more efficient radio duty cycling protocols: channel check, pending packet, and receiving packet. * New initialization mechanism, which takes advantage of the NETSTACK #defines. --- core/dev/cc2420.c | 259 +++++++++++++++------- core/dev/cc2420.h | 4 +- core/dev/radio.h | 25 ++- core/net/mac/Makefile.mac | 4 +- core/net/mac/contikimac.c | 6 +- core/net/mac/contikimac.h | 6 +- core/net/mac/csma.c | 253 ++++++++++++++-------- core/net/mac/cxmac.c | 82 +++---- core/net/mac/cxmac.h | 7 +- core/net/mac/lpp.c | 367 ++++++++++++++++---------------- core/net/mac/mac.c | 62 ++++++ core/net/mac/mac.h | 20 +- core/net/mac/nullmac.c | 63 ++---- core/net/mac/nullmac.h | 3 +- core/net/mac/nullrdc.c | 101 +++++++++ core/net/mac/nullrdc.h | 50 +++++ core/net/mac/sicslowmac.c | 137 ++++++------ core/net/mac/xmac.c | 85 +++----- core/net/mac/xmac.h | 6 +- core/net/netstack.h | 86 ++++++++ core/net/rime.h | 7 +- core/net/rime/chameleon.c | 8 +- core/net/rime/rime-udp.c | 45 ++-- core/net/rime/rime-udp.h | 4 +- core/net/rime/rime.c | 89 +++++--- core/net/sicslowpan.c | 37 ++-- core/net/sicslowpan.h | 8 +- platform/sky/contiki-conf.h | 49 +++-- platform/sky/contiki-sky-main.c | 71 +++--- 29 files changed, 1176 insertions(+), 768 deletions(-) create mode 100644 core/net/mac/mac.c create mode 100644 core/net/mac/nullrdc.c create mode 100644 core/net/mac/nullrdc.h create mode 100644 core/net/netstack.h diff --git a/core/dev/cc2420.c b/core/dev/cc2420.c index 1e2749236..687c2b7cb 100644 --- a/core/dev/cc2420.c +++ b/core/dev/cc2420.c @@ -28,7 +28,7 @@ * * This file is part of the Contiki operating system. * - * @(#)$Id: cc2420.c,v 1.37 2010/01/14 23:32:05 adamdunkels Exp $ + * @(#)$Id: cc2420.c,v 1.38 2010/02/18 21:48:39 adamdunkels Exp $ */ /* * This code is almost device independent and should be easy to port. @@ -52,11 +52,13 @@ #include "net/rime/packetbuf.h" #include "net/rime/rimestats.h" +#include "net/netstack.h" #include "sys/timetable.h" #define WITH_SEND_CCA 0 +#include "cc2420-arch-sfd.h" #if CC2420_CONF_TIMESTAMPS #include "net/rime/timesynch.h" @@ -112,30 +114,41 @@ static unsigned long total_time_for_transmission, total_transmission_len;
