(can_* == can_read, can_write, and can_create)
See top of contrib/adc/adc.common-functions for more on this.
Note: the old style (calling get_rights_and_owner with $repo, then
checking $perm_read, $perm_write, etc.), will still work fine.
I got tired of being told "TL;DR". Now the online versions of most
documents fit on a page or two, or at least most of them do. The rest
has been split out (and you can see the links to the split out sections
right where the text is in the raw Markdown).
This is much more pleasant to read, and I've improved the linking so
it's much less effort for me to keep the links correct.
- support for ADCs with unchecked arguments
- rsync, htpasswd, and svnserve gone from core; turned into ADCs
Backward compat breakage and fix: Please see documentation for details,
but if you're using gitolite to control rsync you will now need to setup
ADCs (admin defined commands), and install at least the new "rsync" ADC.
----
Thanks to Joey Hess (see commit prior to this) for forcing me to stop
being lazy and get this out of my long term todo list.
- make the warning less juvenile ;-)
- de-emphasise the connection to wild repos; it's not as deep as the
doc made it out to be
- move the historical stuff out of the way
(we quietly do not document the 'able' adc, which is now the most
"official" adc in the sense that it has a new test, t64-write-able!)
other notes: fix bug in 'able' (not setting $loc)
- get_rights_and_owner normalises its arg1 by stripping .git if
supplied, then sets the variable "repo" to the result as a side
effect
- new "help" adc with some default text but main purpose is to allow
site local help text
- other adc's refer to 'help' adc when appropriate
- 'undelete' renamed to 'restore'; that's what the KDE "trashcan"
program calls that operation
- minor typo in sample script in documentation
- main adc doc points to contrib/adc/repo-deletion.README now
- all anchors prefixed by AUTO_ now
- some bad links fixed (maybe still a few I didn't catch)
- misc wording changes/additions (support section to README,
"technical skills" section to install doc, etc).
people will NOT read documentation, especially the bloody install
documentation. I'm about ready to throw in the towel and declare
gitolite unsupported, take-it-or-leave-it.
But I'm making one last attempt to refocus the install doc to better
suit the "I know I'm very smart and I dont have to read docs so it's
clearly your fault that I am not able to install gitolite" crowd.
As a bonus, though, I ended up making proper, hyper-linked, TOCs for
most of the docs, and moved a whole bunch of stuff around. Also finally
got some of the ssh stuff over from my git-notes repo because it really
belongs here.
Ouch! How mortifying :) I'd always thought this was one of the Brit/US
differences, but to find out that it really *isn't* a word... hmph!
Anyway, in the interest of not breaking existing wild repos, the
ownership file is still called "gl-creater". Everything else has been
changed.
